JOB SUMMARY
Project EAGLE (Eliciting Advanced Gifted Learning Evidence) is seeking a qualitative researcher with math education experience for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The person in this position will work on this study of math lessons designed to elicit gifted behaviors in elementary English learners through a dynamic identification approach.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Refine the math talent observation checklists and problem-based activities.
- Develop and provide professional learning sessions.
- Recruit participants.
- Conduct interviews and observations.
- Organize and analyze data to write research results.
- Be a core team member, able to learn and work independently and collaborate effectively with co-workers.
- Opportunities to engage in the entire research process and collaborate on research presentations and publications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, Mathematics Education, Gifted Education, or a related area.
- Experience in elementary or intermediate math curriculum and instruction.
- Experience analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with gifted English learners.
- Fluency in speaking, writing, and translating Spanish.
- Experience using, measuring, or teaching critical and creative thinking skills.
- Experience developing and/or delivering professional learning sessions.
- Experience conducting interviews and/or field observations.
- Experience with Dedoose or another app to organize and analyze research data.
- Experience in preparing manuscripts for dissemination and publication.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, end-date, 12-month position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2024. The position may be renewed annually based on funding and performance. The candidate’s appointment will include the possibility of regional and national travel. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
